Forensic Science
Science is the application to the investigation of crime scenes. It includes the investigation of fingerprinting, fiber analysis, ballistics, arson, trace evidence analysis, poisons, drugs, blood spatters, and blood samples. Students will learn the scientific protocols for analyzing a crime scene, how to use chemical and physical separation methods to isolate and identify materials. How to analyze biological evidence and the criminal use of tools, including impressions from firearms, tool marks, arson, and explosive evidence.

Students will have an introduction to United States history through the study of selected historical figures. In the history strand, students study the important contributions each historical person made. In the geography strand, students learn about where these historical people lived and explore important basic geographic concepts and including a study of maps. The civics strand provides a study of the positive character traits exhibited by these important historical figures. We will incorporate Wee Sing America Songs and have a fun wax museum character exhibit at the end of the year. We will incorporate basic kindergarten and first grade writing and reading standards.

This course is designed to increase the student’s understanding and knowledge of world geography. Students will be exposed to a physical-cultural study of the Earth. Students will learn about different continents and their features such as vegetation and wildlife, national flags and profiles, cultural insights, famous locations, and famous people that have lived on that continent. Students will be taught about the different cultures of these continents through readings, videos, films, music, food, etc. The course will include the studying of maps, map skills, cities, landforms, bodies of water including rivers.
